Seize and Shine

Shining a Light on Seizures

We realized the immense fear that accompanies these diagnoses, especially when they seem like a mystery. Moreover, the stigma surrounding these conditions can have an effect on mental health. Through our project, "Seize and Shine," we hope to provide children diagnosed with seizures a greater understanding into their conditions, where a sense of acceptance is created and they can feel heard.

Some new artwork! Did you know GABA and Glutamate are neurotransmitters that help balance the brain's chemistry? Glutamate excites neurons to fire signals, while GABA slows them down to prevent overactivity. When the balance tips, it can lead to seizures. There's more to seizures and epilepsy that meets the eye, and this is one part of a much more complex story.
